Classic Cocktail Recipes

Old Fashioned

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon or rye whiskey
  • 1/4 oz simple syrup (1:1 ratio of water to sugar)
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Orange peel
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. In a glass, muddle the sugar and water (or use simple syrup) with the bitters until it's dissolved.
  2. Add a large ice cube (or several small ones) to the glass.
  3. Pour the bourbon or rye whiskey over the ice.
  4. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Squeeze orange peel over drink and drop the peel into the glass.
  6. Optionally, you can garnish with a cherry.

Gold Rush

 Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz honey syrup (1:1 ratio of water to honey, dissolved together)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon twist for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, add bourbon, fresh lemon juice, and honey syrup.
  2. Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
  3. Shake vigorously until chilled, about 15-20 seconds.
  4. Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice.
  5. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Mint Julep

 

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup (1:1 ratio of water to sugar)
  • 4-6 fresh mint leaves, plus extra for garnish
  • Crushed ice

Instructions

  1. In a Julep cup or highball glass, lightly muddle the mint leaves and simple syrup together.
  2. Fill the glass with crushed ice, packing it tightly.
  3. Pour the bourbon over the ice.
  4. Stir gently to combine and chill the mixture.
  5. Top with more crushed ice, forming a small mound above the rim of the glass.
  6. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
